Danijel Berković (1954) received his Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) at London School of Theology (1984), followed by his master’s degree in theology (MTh) in Croatia (2002) at the Evangelical Theological Seminary (Osijek). He earned his PhD in the area of Hebrew Old Testament linguistics and defended his dissertation in Oxford and London Middlessex University (2016). His second PhD in biblical Psalmody he defended his in Croatia at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (2019) (University of Zagreb). Danijel is a member of the Croatian Bible Society management board as a Bible translator and a member of the translating team for the new Bible translation project. From 1985 to 1997, he was a regular and visiting lecturer of the Old Testament and Hebrew language at numerous theological schools in Croatia and abroad. He has been an external associate since 1999 at the Faculty of Theology Matija Vlačić Ilirik and teaches Hebrew and the Old Testament. Danijel has been employed at the Bible Institute in Zagreb since 2004 and is head of the Center for Biblical Research department. He has published many articles in the areas of the Old Testament, Hebraic studies, Bible translations and Biblical studies in numerous theological journals, collections of articles and scientific conferences in Croatia and abroad. Before his academic career, Danijel served as a pastor in Pula and Zagreb for more than twenty years.
